• Assist HMA plant operators in operating and controlling plant equipment, including aggregate bins, conveyors, dryers,
mixers, and control systems, to produce asphalt mixtures according to project specifications and quality
requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance, material flow, and process parameters under the supervision and guidance of
experienced operators to ensure efficient operation and compliance with production schedules.
2. Material Handling and Preparation:
• Receive, store, and handle raw materials, such as aggregates, asphalt binder, and additives, for use in asphalt mix
production, ensuring proper storage, cleanliness, and availability of materials.
• Load and unload materials into plant equipment, feeders, and hoppers using loaders, forklifts, or other material
handling equipment, following safety procedures and operating guidelines.
3. Equipment Maintenance Support:
• Assist maintenance technicians and electricians in performing routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs on
HMA plant equipment, including lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of worn or damaged parts.
• Learn to identify equipment malfunctions, mechanical issues, or electrical problems, and report observations to
supervisors or experienced technicians for troubleshooting and resolution.
4. Quality Control Assistance:
• Support quality control activities by assisting in material testing, sampling, and inspection of raw materials,
intermediate products, and finished asphalt mixtures to verify compliance with project specifications and quality
standards.
• Learn to operate testing equipment, such as gradation sieves, asphalt content testers, and density gauges, and assist
in recording test results and data for documentation purposes.
5. Safety Compliance and Housekeeping:
• Adhere to safety regulations, procedures, and protocols governing HMA plant operations, equipment usage, and
occupational health and safety (OSHA) standards to prevent accidents, injuries, or environmental hazards.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats, when
performing tasks in the vicinity of operating machinery or hazardous materials.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping of work areas, equipment, and surroundings to promote a safe
and productive work environment and minimize the risk of accidents or incidents.
